Beyond the Crest
Place:M+ / Mediatheque (Hong Kong)
Day:10 Oct 2023 – 31 Mar 2024
Sound travels in waves through crests and troughs. Named Beyond the Crest, this edition of the programme Pulling Focus presents a series of moving image works that span across different disciplines and forms, ranging from the corporeal soundscape of a British avant-garde sound artist, a homemade music video by a Cantonese female collective, to the detached voice of humanity engineered by an Indonesian musician. Through manipulating body sounds, sound objects, and electric currents, the works bring forth a lesser-known aspect of video art—music—and examine how sound can alter our visual perception.
